Functional both as a media console or a storage console. The door joinery and inlayed wood panels – along with the weathered finish of this piece – give it a perfect farmhouse feel. Finishing details like soft-close hinges, adjustable shelves and subtle round knobs tie it all together.

Choosing the right tabletop surface

Planed

Planed tabletops are planed and sanded perfectly smooth, revealing a beautiful grain pattern distinct to these ancient timbers. The surface is completely flat, which makes for easy cleaning. It’ll pick up some nicks and dings over the years, as it becomes part of the family.

Rough Sawn

Rough sawn tops are sanded carefully but left distressed, highlighting the character of this heritage wood. Over the years as it picks up nicks and dings, they’ll blend right in. And don’t worry, we make sure the surface is still flat enough that your wine glasses and laptops won’t wobble.

Sizing up your table

A couple quick rules of thumb, to make sure we nail this:

Leave 36”+ from the edge of the table to the wall (or to another piece of furniture), to make sure someone can sit and someone else can walk behind them.

Break out the masking tape and lay out the table dimensions on the floor. Seems low-tech, it’s actually really helpful.

Choosing the right stain

No two boards are the same, and every one takes stain a little different. Expect variation in color across your piece, as the stain brings out the individual nuances of the wood. As an example, the three images above show different sections of a planed tabletop, with medium brown stain.
